§ About
A hundred years of measuring twice.
Holloway Precision is a third-generation, family-owned engineering works. We still answer the phone, still read every drawing, and still keep the 1958 lathes for the jobs they do best.

§ Our story
From two lathes on Neepsend Lane to forty-two in Attercliffe.
Arthur Holloway was a toolmaker for a Sheffield cutlery firm. In 1924 he rented a corner of their works, bought two second-hand lathes and started making jigs and gauges for his old employer.
His son Frank added production lathes and apprentices. His grandson Richard brought in CNC and aerospace work. Today Richard’s daughter Ellen runs the company from a restored brick works with room for forty machines, and the same rules Arthur wrote on the toolroom wall.

§ Written on the toolroom wall, 1924
Rule 1
Read the drawing twice.
Most mistakes happen before the first cut. We review every drawing and ask questions early.
Rule 2
Measure the first one properly.
A first article report on every new job, signed by the person who made it and the person who checked it.
Rule 3
Ring before you guess.
If something is unclear, we pick up the phone. It is quicker than scrap.
